At tonight's BOE meeting we were fortunate to celebrate the USD 480 March Educator of the Month, Ms. Sanders. She is a biology teacher at LHS and was instrumental in keeping the Red Med students engaged and learning after the athletic trainer departed. Join us in celebrating her!

The USD 480 District Office will be closed Friday, April 7, 2023. We will return to normal business hours Monday, April 10, 2023.
Due to the expected high winds and dangerous conditions caused by blowing dust, USD 480 will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, April 4th. All sporting events are postponed.

Join us in celebrating the February USD 480 Educator of the Month, Ms. Rivas, a 2nd grade teacher from Prairie View Elementary. Ms. Rivas is an energetic, positive, fun, and engaging teacher. She is ALWAYS looking for ways to enhance her instruction to better meet the needs of her students. In BLAST, Ms. Rivas provides afterschool tutoring and extension projects for 2nd and 3rd grade students. This semester for BLAST, she created a kindness challenge for her entire school. We are so lucky to have her at USD 480!

At approximately 9:10 a.m. this morning local law enforcement received a call of a possible threat at LHS. Members of law enforcement were in the building immediately following the call and swept the entire building to ensure that there was no threat to students. It was determined by law enforcement that LHS was part of a state-wide false alarm that went out to several high schools throughout Kansas.
All three LHS buildings were swept and clear of any possible threat. We will be releasing the lockdown shortly.

Join us in celebrating the January USD 480 Educator of the Month, Ms. Martin from MacArthur! She has been with USD 480 for 12 years and currently teaches a 2nd and 3rd grade mixed grade-level classroom. She serves as a role model and mentor to her fellow educators at MacArthur. To observe Ms. Martin’s classroom is to observe a master class in teaching, she makes it all look so easy even when it isn't. Ms. Martin is truly a gift to her students, MacArthur, and USD 480. We are so thankful to have her!
