SchoolMessenger is coming to BOTH of our middle schools next Wednesday! In order for our middle schools to better communicate with their families they will be implementing SchoolMessenger. Middle school parents, please make sure your correct cell phone number is listed in PowerSchool before next Wednesday! An opt-in text will be sent to the number you have listed in PowerSchool on Wednesday. More information from both schools will be coming out early next week.
Buildings across the district will be working with The Kansas Police Dog Association today as they train to certify dogs for drug searches. If you see a stronger law enforcement presence than normal at our campuses, please know this is just a community partnership event.
Congratulations, senior Jim Covarrubius for participating in the Kansas Entrepreneurship Challenge, yesterday. Jim qualified for the state competition by winning the LHS YEC Trade Show held earlier this semester. We are proud of Jim and all of the LHS participants from March.
Today we celebrate all of our Parent Coordinators across USD 480! Their jobs are expansive and we appreciate all of the things they do for the students and families of USD 480. Two days are rarely the same, but the goal of taking care of their families remains constant and we appreciate their commitment, day in and day out! Thank you, USD 480 Parent Coordinators!
"Our parent coordinators care for our families and provide a trusted connection to schools. They play a key role in improving student attendance and parent engagement." - Dr. Todd Carter, USD 480 Superintendent

Today was Spring Signing Day at Liberal High School! Surrounded by their current and former coaches, teachers, teammates, classmates, community members, friends, and most importantly, their families, 11 LHS student-athletes signed their letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at a post-secondary institution. Collectively, these 11 were the largest single group to sign all at once in LHS history. We are so proud of their accomplishments and can't wait to watch them continue to represent Liberal throughout the next chapter of their academic journey. Join us in celebrating these 11 LHS student-athletes!
Dear Parents of the Class of 2038 (students entering preschool in the 24-25 school year),

This is where it all begins!
At tonight's BOE Meeting we celebrated the USD 480 Educator of the Month for March, Meadowlark Interventionist, Mrs. Classen! She is very knowledgeable in what she does and teachers recognize this by frequently seeking her out for support, resources, and strategies. She is well-informed and keeps teachers up-to-date on anything they need to know to be able to provide services to students. With her kind attitude, willingness to provide support, and constant encouragement she is a tremendous asset to everyone at Meadowlark. Mrs. Classen steps in and does all the small things that make a huge impact on them personally, such as assisting with school family activities, helping with lesson plans when a teacher is absent, to escorting students to class, she does it all at Meadowlark! Every school needs a Mrs. Classen and we are so thankful she continues to work at Meadowlark and at USD 480!

Happy School Librarian Day to our dedicated librarians across the district. They do so much for our students and often cover more than one school. They provide so much additional support and activities that keep our students learning and engaged outside of the classroom. They make learning a fun and exciting experience. We are so thankful for all of our USD 480 Librarians!
Happy Paraprofessional Day to one of the largest groups in the district! They are a large group, but their impact on our students is even greater! All the things they do and relationships they build with our students is immeasurable! Thank you, to all of our USD 480 Paras!
