USD 480 Officials and Law enforcement have been made aware of a large number of “Swatting” incidents expected throughout the country tomorrow, Thursday, October 3, 2024.
“Swatting” is making severe false reports to authorities intended to cause fear and apprehension. These false reports may occur at Schools, Businesses, and Individual homes. It's crucial to be aware and prepared.
USD 480 officials and local first responders will take each threat seriously until confirmed otherwise.

Free Haircuts for Sunflower Elementary Students!
Tuesday, August 6 from 5-8 p.m.
At approximately 9:40 this morning, Sunflower Elementary initiated an Emergency Alert when they became aware of a small electrical fire in the kitchen. Out of an abundance of caution all students were evacuated to Bright Start. At this time there is no immediate threat to staff or students and everyone has safely returned to their classrooms. We want to thank local law enforcement, EMS, and Fire Department for their quick and effective response.

Our Sunflower students made a heartwarming gesture by taking their handmade crafts to the local nursing home residents on Veterans Day. It was amazing to see the joy on their faces as they shared their creativity and gratitude with the veterans. We are proud of our students for spreading love and compassion in the community. Alli Lyon is an exceptional PE teacher who is passionate about teaching healthy habits to her students. Her innovative teaching methods make learning enjoyable for students of all abilities. Alli is an active member of the Leadership team and is always willing to assist those in need. She serves on the calendar committee for Sunflower. She observes and learns from other PE teachers to enhance her knowledge and skills. She coaches track at EMS. Her dedication to her work and students has earned her the honor of being named the Sunflower November teacher of the month.
