It was a successful Signing Day at LHS today! These five student-athletes signed to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level. We are proud of these seniors and all they have accomplished and can't wait to see what they do next! Congratulations!

The graduation rate at USD 480 has risen over the last several years and we are now at over 90%. We have also seen an increase in college credits and industry recognized certificates over the last several years at LHS. #DYKKansasKids @USAKansas @kasbpublicEd @ksdehq @aasahq

An alarm was inadvertently set off at LHS today at 1:03 p.m. and a lockdown was automatically initiated. After thoroughly investigating the matter we have determined there was never a credible threat to staff or students. Out of an abundance of caution, USD 480 and our schools will always take any and all alarms seriously and will work to ensure the safety of everyone inside the buildings before sending external messages or answering calls. We appreciate LHS and law enforcement following the proper procedures and protocols. After a few more precautions the lockdown will be lifted and classes will resume. In these instances we urge parents not to go to the buildings under any circumstances. USD 480 will send out mass communications using every modality at our disposal letting parents know where the safest reunification location is if that is ever necessary.
Our administrators and building leaders had a great week of collaboration and learning! Tuesday, the KESA Team from each building worked on accreditation and for the last two days Education Elements worked with our personalized learning teams. Our educators are always learning!

Tonight we honored the USD 480 January Educator of Month, Mrs. Riggs from LHS. She is a invaluable member of LHS and the entire Liberal community. Mrs. Riggs is a fierce advocate for every student throughout USD 480 and the number of lives she has impacted is incalculable.
All USD 480 schools will be in session tomorrow, January 17, 2024.
Due to the forecasted wind chill for the morning of Tuesday, January 16, 2024 there will be NO SCHOOL.
