That is a wrap on the 2023-2024 school year! That is worth celebrating, but so is reaching our district goal on chronic absenteeism! We finished the year officially under 20%! Congratulations, everyone! It was a great year at USD 480!

Today we would like to single out an employee who always has a smile and a friendly greeting as she does her job. Martha Mendez travels throughout the district everyday of the week to deliver mail and written communication between buildings. Whether it's internal or external mail, we always have it in a timely manner because of her. Thank you for all you do throughout the year, Mrs. Mendez!
Kindergarten Registration is well underway! If your child attended preschool at Bright Start, they are already registered. If your child attended preschool elsewhere please gather the required documents and schedule an appointment today!

Watch the LHS Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K57LOnVIWos
This week was Teacher Appreciation Week and on behalf of everyone at USD 480 we hope all of our teachers felt extra special. Our teachers are the heartbeat of our district; everything that is done outside of our classrooms is in service of our teachers' efforts and mission. It seems fitting that a week dedicated to appreciating our teachers will culminate in sending another class of seniors out into the world. The LHS Commencement Ceremony that will take place tomorrow is only possible because of ALL of the teachers at USD 480. Whether they taught these graduates 12 years ago or 12 days ago, our teachers played a pivotal role in getting them across that stage. We could never truly express our gratitude in a way that would make it feel like enough; we just hope our teachers know how much we appreciate them and just how big their impact is on our students and our community, as a whole. WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS!

Today, we celebrated our fantabulous USD 480 School Nurses! From the minor scrapes and bumps to the more serious, our nurses always make sure our students are well taken care of and feel seen and heard. On top of performing their daily tasks at their individual schools they also come together to perform thousands of hearing screenings and vision tests to ensure the health and wellbeing of our students. Thank you for all you do, USD 480 Nurses!
Tomorrow is Walk/Bike to School Day! Please be extra careful and vigilant around our schools tomorrow as there will be an extra amount of students walking or riding their bikes. Students are prepared after the Bike Rodeo this past Saturday, thanks to the sponsors and mechanics!

At last night's BOE Meeting we were fortunate to also celebrated the May USD 480 Educator of the Month, Mrs. Fuller from Meadowlark! She has held several positions in her 25 years at USD 480, starting as a parent volunteer when her children first started school. She then went on to serve as a substitute, paraprofessional, kindergarten teacher, instructional coach, before her current role at the Meadowlark interventionist. She is well known passion, energy, and enthusiasm. Mrs. Fuller sought out, professionally and personally, for her insight and willingness to help. We are so thankful to have Mrs. Fuller continue to be such a tremendous part of USD 480!
