Superintendent End of Year Message 2022

As we come to the end of the 2021-2022 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for your caring work with our kids, parents, and community. In my first year as superintendent, I have had the pleasure of meeting with most of our staff from every department and from every school. I have been able to get a closer look at what they do day-to-day as well as over an entire school year. As I get to know the staff and gain a better understanding of what their role within USD 480 looks like, I am constantly reminded that we are in good hands. I am inspired by the sacrifices, by the support, and by the unwavering focus on caring for students and caring for each other.

USD 480 is an integral part of the Liberal community and the dedication and perseverance of our staff helps drive the community forward. Our chief objective is to educate the next generation of citizens and prepare them for life beyond their formal education, but what we provide as a district extends well beyond that. This is where we excel.

As we move forward, there will be changes and challenges that will require us to come together and improve what we do for students, parents, and staff. We are now preparing for a new five year accreditation cycle and strategic plan focused on continuity in instruction, attendance, and student achievement. Over 700 responses from students, staff, parents, board members, and community members have provided input on the direction for our district. We will all play a role in the future of USD 480 and what education in the Liberal community will look like. I am confident that together we can achieve our mission of “every learner, every day.”
