Vaccination Changes for the 19-20 School Year

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment have released the new requirements and recommendations for immunizations for the 2019-2020 school year. Please share the following information with your listeners/readers to help us spread the word. I have also attached two PDF's with specific details - one in English and one in Spanish. Thank you for your help in this manner.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has released new requirements and recommendations for student immunizations beginning for the 2019-2020 school year. If parents have questions or concerns regarding their child’s immunization status, please speak with your school nurse, Seward County Health Department or your healthcare provider. Vaccination efforts by school and public health officials, immunization providers and parents are key to the success of protecting our children and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases

The changes impact students entering Kindergarten, 1st, 7th and 11th grades for the 19-20 school year:

  • Hepatitis A: Two doses required for all students entering kindergarten and 1st grades
  • Meningococcal: Two doses required for students entering 7th grade (ages 11-12) and 11th grade (ages 16-18)
