With inclement weather forecasted for this afternoon and evening USD 480 will be monitoring conditions to make sure district travel can be made safely. Updates to any scheduled events will be posted on our social media, school website, and sent to our local media outlets.
Liberal High School will be welcoming students back for a regular school day on January 7, 2020. This is an update to the district calendar. We hope that everyone has an outstanding break!
This morning USD 480 was notified by a neighboring school district of a potential issue with a former Liberal High School student. As a precautionary measure, Liberal High School was put into a hold-in-place. The hold-in-place has now been lifted based on the Liberal Police Department recommendation. School has resumed as normal.
Normal operations have resumed at LHS.

UPDATE: Those believed to be responsible for making threats at Eisenhower Middle School last week were identified and arrested shortly after the threat was reported. USD 480 appreciates the Liberal Police Department and EMS staff who worked diligently for this outcome. An additional potential threat was investigated today. No charges were filed.

Over the past week threats against the school have been reported in two buildings. All threats are taken seriously and reported to law enforcement immediately. The threats are being investigated by law enforcement as well as USD 480 administration. The safety of students and staff is our most important priority.

Free Sports Physicals being offered by the new Xpress Wellness Urgent Care! Xpress Wellness will allow walk-ins or scheduled physical appointments through Friday 9/20. Toot'n Totum "Spirit Pump" fundraiser for USD 480! From September 1st through April 30th, 5¢ of every gallon sold at that pump will be donated to the school district. Funds raised will be donated to the district and will be used for enhancing security measures to keep students safe in the classroom. In Liberal, the Spirit Pump will be located at our 1421 N. Western Avenue store.
The Newcomers Center will be closed September 11th-12th in order to move to their new location, 615 W 7th st. They will re-open in their new location Friday, September 13th.
