PROJECT GUIDELINES All participants are encouraged use technology to type project reports and build displays
EXPERIMENTAL PROJECTS MUST INCLUDE: 1. DATA NOTEBOOK: (A day to day account of research). This must be in a folder or bound notebook if not part of the display. (Log or Data books can be handwritten or typed.) Regular entries show consistent research and data-gathering skills. For long term projects, this is a very important. Raw data is not expected to be typed but it should be in an organized data table.
2. SCIENTIFIC REPORT: (Experimental Write-up) This must be in a folder or bound notebook if not part of the display. The following items should be included in your written scientific report. Remember to write clearly and use complete sentences. 1. Problem or Investigation Question: 2. Background Information: (Bibliography should be included at the end of report) 3. Hypothesis (Prediction) : 4. Materials: 5. Procedure (Experimental Design) : 6. Results (Summary of Data, Graphs) : 7. Conclusion (Interpretation of results) :
3. DISPLAY: (See "Putting Display Together") * NO NAMES MAY BE ON THE PROJECTS. They will be disqualified.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
Remember when putting your project together that the projects will be on display for TWO days during which time many students, parents and visitors will view the exhibits. 1. Be sure that everything is glued down and, if possible, covered with plastic. Things that can be picked up can be moved or misplaced. 2. Do not put anything that is of great value or cannot be replaced out where it may disappear. 3. Read all display and safety rules carefully. ►Title Boards are REQUIRED for any project participating in the DISTRICT SCIENCE FAIR!!!!!!!!!!
